Codes of Conduct
Lacrosse is a sport that belongs to the players. It is a game that offers physical challenges, emotional satisfaction, and lifelong values and experiences for those who play.
Within this context, we ask that players, coaches, and parents dedicate themselves to upholding the highest standards of conduct and competence. Sportsmanship and ethical values highlighting respect, fairness, civility, honesty, integrity and accountability are a foundation for the sport.

BMSLL Rules 2008

  • NCAA Rules apply (unless otherwise noted)
  • 4 10-minute running time quarters (stop time in the final 2 minutes if there is a 2 goal or less difference)
  • 2 1-minute timeouts per half (anywhere on the field for 5th and 6th graders; offensive end of the field only for 7th and 8th graders)
  • Horns on sidelines only (stop clock) – all other substitutions “on the fly” (one man on, one man off through the substitution box) EXCEPT: after a goal or on a time serving penalty.
  • All time serving penalties are served, penalty time begins with restart whistle and runs until penalty time expires (with the exception of during a time out)
  • “Keep it in the Offensive Box” by the team with a lead in the final 2 minutes of 4th quarter
  • Face-Off after each goal (EXCEPT: when one team is ahead by 4 goals or more, then the team that is behind receives the ball at the midline)
  • Sudden Death Overtime: 4 minute periods until one team scores
  • "Ice Pick Check” is illegal (one-handed check using the butt-end of the stick in a downward movement)
  • Stick Checks at the end of each quarter
  • No offensive or defensive counts (4 second goalie privilege in the crease is in effect)
